SALON: Wikipedia defines salon as “a gathering of stimulating people of quality under the roof of an inspiring hostess or host, partly to amuse one another and partly to refine their taste and increase their knowledge through conversation and readings. Here is that place. Here is where we encourage anyone leave their thoughts on church and culture. Pastor Dennis will introduce the topic and all are encouraged to express themselves. Praxis request that everyone respect each others view points and keep language appropriate.

Recently our church placed an apology letter to our community. Our goal behind this was to let the community know that has a church we have made mistakes in the past and have done things that have hurt the name of Jesus! Below is a copy of the apology letter over the next few weeks I want to openly discuss each one of these topics. So sit back and lets interact together. As a missionary told me this weekend. “Lets Cafe in a New Way”
- We’re Sorry for Our Self-Righteousness and Hypocrisy
-
- We’re Sorry for Our Mistreatment of Homosexuals
-
- We’re Sorry for Ignoring Your Hurts and Pains
-
- We’re Sorry for Saying the Earth Is Flat
-
- We’re Sorry for Neglecting the Poor

David,
Thank you for your response! Our desire for the ad was to confess to our community a few areas that as “the church” ( a general term for the modern Protestant church) needs to be repent for. Throughout the history of the “church” there have been times of making mistakes in the name of Jesus! Instead of being a place of acceptance and a place of holistic restoration for the world the “church” has at times mist the point of Jesus’ message. As a new church in the community of Tracy we wanted to first acknowledge our faults and ask for forgiveness. We do not teach the world is flat, nor do we mistreat any group however as the “church” sometimes we have not been Jesus to our community. One of our desires with Praxis is to engage our community to discuss all aspects of life and allow Jesus in on that conversation. I look forward to more discussion with you and the community. We will be launching topic nights weekly for people to gather together for discussion we will meet in person and have online discussions. Again thank you for your interest.
